Michelin Star Restaurants in Barcelona

Author: Pamela Maldonado

If you are a gastronomy lover and you are a follower of the Michelin Guide, and even if you are not, you must come to Barcelona and try these 5 Michelin Star Restaurants. For the ones that do not know exactly how the Michelin Guide works, let me give you a brief introduction to this amazing gastronomic world.

This prestigious restaurant ratings, Michelin Guide were created by a tire company, Michelin. Started reviewing restaurants in 1900, they launched they first guidebook to encourage road tripping in France. In 1962 they started sending out anonymous restaurant reviewers to try restaurants. Today, they rely on a full-time staff of anonymous restaurant reviewers. After they visit, they write a memorandum of their experience at the restaurant, and then all the reviewers come together to discuss and decide whether a restaurant will be awarded with the star.

The maximum of stars given are three. The Stars are given focusing on the following:

Michelin Stars

1 STAR: Worth the stop, very good in quality, cuisine prepared to a high standard.

2 STARS: Worth a detour, excellent in quality, skillfully crafted cuisine.

3 STARS: Worth a special journey, exceptional in quality, precisely executed cuisine.

This guide is updated each year to ensure quality.
